10 (not so obvious) Nutrition and Fitness Truths EVERYONE should know.

1️⃣ Sugar is NOT the devil. Sugar/glucose is your cells preferred source of energy. Sugar/glucose SPEEDS up your metabolism, thus it will USE up more nutrition. This is why Sugar/glucose is BEST when consumed as a nutrient rich food--fruit, roots, milk, honey, cooked vegetables.

2️⃣ Exercise DOES NOT speed up your basal metabolism. Yes, exercise can "burn" calories, but WHILE exercising your thyroid hormone actually becomes suppressed. Elevated stress hormones are what is driving the caloric "burn". --on a side note, the after affects of weight training (increased muscle) can increase basal metabolism.

3️⃣ HIGH STRESS will kill the production of lactase in your small intestine. Thus, the reason you are lactose intolerant may be due to STRESS, not the milk.

4️⃣ Vitamin A and copper are BOTH needed for iron regulation. Thus, your iron anemia may have nothing to do with a lack of iron, but rather a need for more copper and vitamin A.

5️⃣ Carrots contain ZERO amounts of Vitamin A (retinal). Carrots contain beta carotene, also known as inactive Vitamin A or provitamin A.

6️⃣ Estrogen is a stress hormones, not the female hormone. We know this due to "stressed" men showing higher amounts of estrogen in their body, over their female partners.

7️⃣ Sugar does not cause diabetes, cancer or obesity. The cells inability to utilize fuel properly (usually due to stress) is the main contributor to metabolic diseases.

8️⃣ Coffee does not "burn out" your adrenals. Coffee DOES increase the cells ability to use fuel. Thus, NOT eating and drinking coffee CAN make you feel "stressed", yet this is due to the lack of available fuel, not coffee.

9️⃣ Coffee, chocolate, and milk are ALL alkaline forming, NOT acidic forming in the body. Just because a food is acidic in nature, DOES NOT mean it has an acidic affect on the body. The Potential Renal Acid Load (PRAL) is far more important.

🔟 Cauliflower taste NOTHING like mashed potatoes,, tater tots or hash browns. Eat the amazing potato instead.
