I had been very ill over a decade, with a combination of autoimmune disease, Epstein Barr Virus, chronic fatigue and other maladies probably due to stress and cortisol and amplified by a late menopause.  However, in 2022 after a few years of careful nutrition and supplementation, I began to feel somewhat stronger and started light exercise with a trainer.  This trainer gave me Kate's book "How To Heal Your Metabolism". and urged me to have private consultation with Kate.  It was an excellent book and the best advice.  I admit I was obstinate, didn't want to deal with the original questionnaire (trainer actually did this with me to stop my delay tactics), didn't want to begin diet alterations dealing with dairy, protein, change of cooking oil, and the actual amount of daily food consumption.  But mostly I resented keeping a food diary including timing of meals and body temperature measurement.  OMG, during the early program I was like a horse "spitting the bit.".  I didn't want the discipline, I didn't want to measure. I am a creative cook with a wide palate.   I wanted to learn but not do the work.  

One year later, and I have to say, Kate changed me.  She pierced my wall of reluctance with patient explanations, suggested small challenges, encouragement including stories of her personal journey, and good humor.  For me, it was necessary to invest in this first year of work:  I've learned alot.  My sources (and measurement) of daily protein and carbs has changed, and now I try to measure these with every meal (especially breakfast) every day for health clarity.  It took a year, but I now willingly add collagen to my morning coffee!!  Unthinkable a year ago!!. And  I now understand that I need carb replenishment before and after exercise. I  try to achieve 25-30 grams of protein with each meal, and that new goal keeps me focused on the greater goal:  To keep my metabolism  in a state of balance, unstressed.  
Developing new habits and jettisoning longtime unhealthy habits is not easy, but it can be done simply by deciding to do it.
Kate has changed me, improved me and that's a big deal  as I'm a tough cookie in my 60's.  She's a terrific coach.  I'm sure I'll seek her wisdom for many years to come. It all started by reading her book.  It's a primer that i turn to over and over, and gift to friends whom I care about. It's been a pleasure to be coached by Kate.  I'm grateful.

I have been fortunate enough to have one-on-one sessions with Kate since July 22, and I can honestly say that she has transformed my life. As much as I appreciate the science-based wisdom of “How to Heal Your Metabolism”, the application of it was hard for me to wrap my head around. I’m sure I could’ve done it had I tried harder but then I learned that I could work with Kate Deering directly and, well, I didn’t have to think long about what I would do next. I’m so relieved that I worked with Kate especially because, even as I was doing my best to follow her program, I was still inundated with information about “the merits of” ____ (fill in the blank) for losing weight, more energy, etc.

What I ultimately learned is that almost everything out there is a short-term “fix” that eventually breaks. Intermittent fasting is great! At first. Until your metabolism dials itself way down to make up for the massive gap between nutritional support. Same with keto or low-carb eating. They may all work at first but they don’t last. 

Kate’s way actually made sense to me since it’s pretty much in line with Ayurvedic practices which are more than 5,000 years old. And it feels like it’s in line with the way my grandparents ate—and their parents. No one was intermittent fasting or low-carb eating a hundred years ago—and they were not overweight! Kate was nice enough to answer all of my questions and keep me on track. Using the Cronometer app enabled her to see exactly what I was eating and when I was eating it and Kate set my macronutrient ratios so that I didn’t have to check in with her daily—I just had to check my micronutrient ratios on the app.

Still, I needed our monthly Zoom calls because I used that time to ask Kate about any questions I still had and she used that time to go over what and how I had been eating and make suggestions for minor (or major) adjustments. 

If you’re serious about your long-term health, you really should consider working with Kate. She will not babysit you, scold you, or guilt you into anything. You have to be motivated to make the changes but she will help you see them through.

I thought you would appreciate an update on Kip and his health.  He had his follow-up MRI a week ago Sunday and yesterday he had his appointment to get the results.  We are so, so grateful…As of now, the cancer is GONE!!  His MRI looked completely normal and everything is as it should be.

Also, his oncologist (a new one from the one he last saw) is saying she will have him on the Orgovyx for only 18 months.  So, we need to get to September, which sounds way better than a year from March!  She said, as you also told us, that there is no evidence of any benefit after the 18 month mark.

I have to give a big shout out to Kate for curing my insomnia and getting my health back on track. Earlier this year I experienced chronic insomnia. Sleep issues started a year earlier, but increasingly got worse over time. I was up at 2AM and awake until 10pm, and oddly had loads of energy, but emotionally drained. It has been such a pleasure getting to work with Kate these past few months. Her approach is quite different than anything I had heard before and certainly does not follow the main stream teachings. But after working through several of my "hang ups", it quickly began to make so much sense. I also appreciate that some choices are "great" but others are ok to just be "better".

I now truly understand the value of logging your food. It is the only way to know how which direction to move forward and to hold yourself accountable. I would have been lost without the cronometer app. An example is how much animal meat I was eating which was contributing to a high daily fat percentage. I found that eating fish is a great alternative as I can control the amount fat added with how much butter I use, etc. Lastly, I learned that I don't need to be afraid of (the right types) carbs! They are so essential to a well running body and brain.

I decided to hire Kate, to help me get regain my health back after 14 years of working at a computer doing missile guidance & control work for various defense contractors led to me slowly getting more & more unhealthy without realizing it. The worst came after going thru two episodes of brain surgery due to an arachnoid cyst which led to further pattern changes in my life and ended up gaining almost 45 lbs. Per Kates recommendation I have been drinking the gelatin-juice for the last three months. In this short time I have noticed a few significant changes. My cravings for sweets, and complex carbohydrates have diminished tremendously. Even during stressful times I find I am not inclined in the slightest to reach for junk food. It just is not "hitting" the spot. In fact is seems that sweet "spot" has disappeared. Even when I do indulge in my favorite chips and dip/salsa I don't eat the whole bag.
